QA Automation Engineer

About the role
This role is for a QA Automation Engineer who will be a key part of our cross-functional development teams, collaborating closely with back-end engineers and front-end/mobile developers. The mission is to ensure our products are stable, reliable, and deliver great user experiences across web and mobile platforms through automation, integration, and proactive testing practices. As part of our commitment to quality at every stage of the development lifecycle, this role will help design and maintain our automated testing frameworks and integrate them into our CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and scale automated test suites for web, mobile, and API layers.
Collaborate closely with developers to understand features and technical implementation, and ensure thorough test coverage.
Participate in feature planning and sprint ceremonies, contributing a quality-first perspective.
Test and validate APIs used across our products.
Ensure automated tests are integrated with our CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins).
Investigate test failures, triage issues, and help resolve root causes in coordination with the engineering team.
Contribute to and help evolve our test strategy, tools, and processes to match best practices in automation and quality engineering.
Advocate for a culture of testing and quality, while also supporting manual testing when needed for edge cases or new features.

Experience
Solid experience implementing or maintaining automated testing frameworks for web applications.
Experience with web frameworks like Symfony (PHP), Spring (Java), or FastAPI (Python).
Experience with Playwright, Appium, or similar automation tools.
Hands-on experience testing RESTful APIs, both manually and through automation.
Experience working in an Agile organisation, with a strong track record of contributing to iterative development, continuous feedback, and cross-functional collaboration.
Interest in or experience with AI tools applied to testing and quality engineering, such as AI-assisted test generation or self-healing tests.

Technical fluency
Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript for writing test scripts.
Comfortable working with Unix-like environments (Linux, macOS, etc.).
Familiarity with CI/CD tools like GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar.
Understanding of responsive and cross-platform behaviour across web, Android, and iOS.
Awareness of emerging AI-driven testing methods and modern automation frameworks is a plus.
